Rick - Thanks. Without a photo/design stylist, it's hard to get pictures of liquor to not be boring! I don't know that I'd noticed anything amiss with M&R vermouth in drinks, until I tried the Carpano. It was heads and shoulder better, I thought. I'll have to try the Star cocktail when I a) get a bottle of calvados on hand, and b) find Peychaud bitters... haven't been able to track them down in Boston yet. As for amaro, I do like Campari but find myself drinking other amaro more and more. Topic for another post, I'm sure.

Mike - I got it at Martignetti's in the North End. Don't know offhand where else has it.

That actually looks pretty good. I have two bottles of Martini & Rossi vermouth, which I never touch. In fact, I didn't even realize that I hadn't opened the sweet vermouth before until last month, and I've had the bottle for at least two years!

Where did you pick up the Carpano's in Boston? I haven't seen it before.

First off, awesome job on the photo. One of the best I've seen on the site. The palette is perfect.

I usually never have a problem with Martini and Rossi sweet vermouth. Cinzano is also good, and I'd love to try Noilly Prat.

I wonder if the Punt è Mes would hold up in the Star Cocktail...

    * 1oz applejack
    * 1oz sweet vermouth
    * 3 dashes Peychaud bitters
    * 2 dashes simple syrup
    * lemon twist

The amaro sounds quite intriguing. I am a big fan of Campari - I wonder how it compares in other drinks...
